It adds to the magic. “It was a complete surprise,” Brittany said. “Him asking me to marry him was probably the furthest thing from my mind... A Mount Kilimanjaro proposal is beautiful—but it’s also remote and rugged. That means ring safety matters. “It’s obviously an expensive item, and you don’t want to lose it,” Vince shared. “I got it fully insured before the trip.” He kept it in his carry-on at all times and never let it out of his sight, even at the airport. On the mountain, he kept it safely hidden and close. Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and the surprise stayed intact until the perfect moment.

4. Altitude Changes Everything

Altitude sickness is real. Even experienced trekkers can feel drained, nauseous, or emotional at high elevations—and that can impact your proposal plans. “Initially, I planned on proposing at the summit,” Vince explained. “But by day two, I realized that wouldn’t work. I looked around and thought, ‘why not now?’” “We were in our tent changing, and to my surprise, he started saying he had something to ask me,” Brittany recalled. “Before he even finished the question, he opened this tiny red patent box with the most breathtaking sparkler I’ve ever seen.” And just like that, it was a “yes”—accompanied by gasps, happy tears, and one unforgettable memory.
