About this Safari

Dear Safari Enthusiasts, This last May, I accompanied a group of family and friends on a most wonderful safari in Tanzania, and we experienced some of the best wildlife sightings I’ve had in decades! May is often considered an "off-season" month in East Africa, but nothing could be further from the truth! Yes, occasional rain showers might occur, but the long rains are ending, the grass is lush, wildflowers bloom, and wildlife is abundant in the right places. On this safari, we will start with a couple of nights in Nairobi to catch our breaths and visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust orphanage, where orphaned elephant calves are rescued, rehabilitated, and rewilded. This initiative is one of Africa’s most remarkable conservation success stories. From Nairobi, we will fly to Naboisho Camp in the Masai Mara conservancies. The grasses in the Main Mara Reserve may be quite tall at this time, making it harder to spot predators. However, in the private Mara conservancies, controlled grazing keeps the grasses short and the predators visible. This region hosts some of the highest densities of big cats in Africa. We will also visit the Mara Elephant Project to gain insight into conservation efforts in the Masai Mara. Next, we will fly to the Serengeti National Park, specifically to Namiri Plains Camp in the eastern Serengeti. This area is renowned for cheetahs and rare small cats such as caracals and servals. During this time of year, we might even catch some of the migrating herds heading north. We will also visit the Serengeti Cheetah Project to learn about their conservation work. Our final stop will be at The Highlands Camp in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will explore the iconic Ngorongoro Crater and experience the coexistence of the Maasai people and wildlife. Engaging with Maasai elders and taking guided walks in this region will deepen our understanding of sustainable human-wildlife relationships. This safari will not only be an exciting adventure but will also provide a deeper appreciation of conservation efforts and Africa’s incredible biodiversity. One of our expert guides from I Artist Adventure will lead this trip in person. Designed for 12 people sharing in 6 rooms, it is ideal for families, friends, or small groups eager to form lifelong bonds. Warm regards, I Artist Adventure Team
