The Great Migration is the largest overland animal movement on Earth: roughly two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle circling the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem year-round in search of grazing. There is no single ‘migration season’ — the herds are always somewhere, and the trick is being in the right zone for the month you travel.
We position you accordingly: the southern plains for the January–March calving, the central and western Serengeti as the herds move mid-year, and the northern Serengeti for the famous Mara River crossings between July and October. Camps that move with the herds put you closest to the action.
