Pemba is a name divers say with reverence. The deep Pemba Channel and the protected reefs around Misali Island offer steep walls draped in soft corals and sea fans, superb visibility, and big pelagic action — kingfish, tuna, barracuda, and reef sharks — with a fraction of the divers you’d find elsewhere.
This is more advanced, current-influenced diving than Zanzibar’s, and all the more rewarding for it. Expeditions are based at Pemba’s dive-focused lodges, with multi-day packages to make the most of the remote location.

World-class diving for certified, reasonably experienced divers — the walls and visibility are exceptional. Some sites have current, so it's less suited to total beginners than Zanzibar's gentle reefs. Worth the journey for the diving alone; pair it with a Pemba lodge stay.
