My name is Eunice Joseph, and I was born and raised in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Today, I work proudly as a porter for I Artist Adventure, a company that showcases Tanzania’s stunning landscapes and supports local communities through meaningful trekking and safari experiences.

What Do You Love About Being a Porter?

Being a porter on Mount Kilimanjaro means the world to me. It’s not just a job—it’s a path that has allowed me to support my family, grow personally, and find financial independence. The role also gives me the chance to help others reach their dreams: standing on the summit of Africa’s tallest mountain, right in my own backyard.

Why Did You Choose This Path?

Growing up near Mount Kilimanjaro, I always dreamed of working on the mountain. I wanted to be part of something bigger and meaningful. Becoming a porter with I Artist Adventure has given me the chance to pursue my goals while being close to the land I love. Financial freedom, personal pride, and the ability to inspire others—that’s why I chose this path.

What’s One of Your Most Memorable Moments?

There are so many unforgettable memories on the trail, but one that stands out is a trek I joined last year. It was a special all-women’s climbing group, with each member over 50 years old. These women were incredible—strong, passionate, and deeply committed to environmental responsibility.

Their energy was contagious. They encouraged me to embrace the power of community and to always welcome others with warmth. They taught me that no matter where we come from, we’re all climbing toward something greater—together.
