📍 Coffee plantation
Gibb’s Farm is a historic luxury farm lodge on the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater near Karatu in northern Tanzania. Originally established as a coffee plantation in the early 1900s, the property has developed into one of the region’s distinctive safari retreats, combining working organic farmland, gardens, individually designed cottages and traditional East African hospitality.
The farm is well positioned for travellers exploring Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Lake Eyasi, but it is also a destination worth spending time at in its own right. Guests can walk through the coffee fields, join farm activities, watch coffee roasting, explore the gardens, take guided forest walks or simply relax beside the swimming pool overlooking the Great Rift Valley.
With only 17 one-bedroom farm cottages plus two private two-bedroom farm houses, Gibb’s Farm offers an intimate alternative to larger safari lodges around Karatu.
