Plantation Lodge

Plantation Lodge is an owner-run safari lodge set within extensive landscaped gardens near Karatu in northern Tanzania. Positioned at approximately 1,600 metres above sea level, the lodge provides convenient access to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park and the wider Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit.

The property began developing in 1997 when owners Renate and Udo Marahrens acquired their first piece of land in Tanzania. Over the years, the original farmstead evolved into Plantation Lodge, with additional rooms and suites added and more than 1,000 trees planted throughout the gardens.

Today, Plantation Lodge combines individually designed rooms and suites, mature gardens, a swimming pool, restaurant, wine cellar, massage treatments and personal service. Its location approximately 12 kilometres from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area makes it particularly attractive for travellers looking for a comfortable base before or after exploring Ngorongoro Crater.
